NMJ Lovers Revisited | Isabella and Jake

We love returning to the love stories that first trusted us to mark such a meaningful beginning, and seeing how those moments have grown and evolved with time.

NMJ Lovers Revisited is a new journal series exploring what happens after the proposal, the ceremony, the “I do.” While engagement and ceremonial pieces honour a moment in time, their true purpose is to stay close through the many chapters that follow.

Our first revisited couple is Isabella and Jake, whom we first featured in early 2022. From friends at 17 to lifelong partners, their story has always been grounded in ease, laughter, and quiet certainty. Married at Bendooley Estate in Bowral, their bespoke NMJ pieces - a vintage-meets-modern engagement ring with a hidden emerald, and a gold signet wedding band - continue to sit beside them as gentle companions.

Because love isn’t only marked in moments. It’s lived in the shared history, the small kindnesses, and the years that unfold in between.

What is something that has surprised you about marriage in the years since we first connected – perhaps a misconception proven wrong, or an assumption proven right?

We both thought that marriage wouldn't change much and you couldn't get any closer but we feel that since being married it has brought us even closer together, having more fun than ever and just growing together continuously.

In what ways do you feel your relationship has changed or grown, and in what ways has it remained the same?

Being married has been a continuous reminder of the love we have.

Can you tell us a little about your connection to your rings now, years past first putting it on?

The love for our rings grows every time we look at them. Sometimes we will find ourselves taking a glimpse of them and we are still in awe! It has become a part of us, and we love the fact that we don't take them off!

Looking back over the years, could you share specific life events or experiences that you've encountered with your NMJ piece? How has it become a symbol of your personal journey?

In 2022 we welcomed our little baby boy Luca-Grae. He joined us unexpectedly premature at 25 weeks. Although our baby boy is happy and healthy now this was a tough time for us. both of our NMJ pieces were that little reminder in hospital to have faith in the tough times. It gave us hope and a reminder to be strong for one another.

What makes you most proud when it comes to your relationship?

"Our loyalty, trust and continuous love for each other."

Our pieces hold so much more than the commitment of marriage, they have become apart of our lives in every sense, and are always a reminder to love each other always.
