NMJ Lovers | Charlotte and Olli

For this chapter of NMJ Lovers, we step into Charlotte and Olli’s story — one that began long before either of them could have known what it would become.

From meeting in high school to building a life together over 14 years, their relationship has been shaped by growing up side by side — through young love, parenthood and the quiet, everyday moments that matter most. What began as something innocent has evolved into a deep partnership, grounded in friendship, loyalty and a shared life they’ve created together.

A story of choosing one another, again and again.

Let’s go back to the beginning, how did you meet?

Olli and I met in year 7 in high school and for me, it was literally love at first sight. He had the sweetest English accent, surfer hair and was the same height as me (we were both short). We were in a few of the same classes and the same friendship group too! I used to go and watch his band play at lunchtimes in an empty classroom. I got invited to his 13th birthday disco party and funnily enough, we actually also lived on the same street twice growing up (talk about fate). The first time we didn’t realise, the second time he lived a few hundred metres away and we used to say hi whenever we passed each other. It wasn’t until a New Years Eve party of 2012-13 that we properly caught up again and started chatting and then eventually dating.

In what ways do you feel your relationship has changed or grown, and in what ways has it remained the same?

Our relationship has grown and changed so much since the beginning. We have been together for 14 years now and in that time have had 3 beautiful kids that we are besotted with. We had our first child fairly young so we had to mature quite quickly to get through the challenges of parenting together and figuring life out. We still love spending our days together with our kids and have the same interests and hobbies. We both enjoy being outside, watching movies together and seeing friends and family. We are each other's biggest fans and biggest supporters and I wouldn’t have it any other way. We’ve definitely grown as a team and still love each other so much.

Charlotte, what was your reaction when you saw your engagement ring for the first time?

ABSOLUTELY STOKED!!! It was my dream ring. I was so so excited to see it! All those hours of scrolling past the same ring multiple times while I was laying on Olli’s lap (making sure he was looking over my shoulder at my phone) paid off. Also saving it to my phone multiple times! I also sent it to my best friend (because who doesn’t). Still love it to this day!

Beyond the physical aesthetics, can you delve into the sentimental value your NMJ pieces hold for you? Are there particular moments or memories attached to them that stand out?

Olli proposed in 2018 in Tuscany in Italy with our oldest who was 3 at the time and it was incredibly special. Our 3-year-old took the proposal photo, and it was just all around the most magical dreamy day. He saved for a while for this ring and hid it for 2 months and then held onto it all throughout Europe until we got to Tuscany where he knew it was my absolute dream location (after my favourite movie) so I was really happy! Our wedding band is also from NMJ and it complements my ring so well. Our wedding day was a long time coming, we were engaged for 7 years so to finally be married was so incredible and to share the same last name with my husband and kids is really special!

What is something that has surprised you about marriage – perhaps a misconception proven wrong, or an assumption proven right?

We have been together for so long that in some ways we already felt like we were married! But what has surprised us is how much more love we have for each other if that is even possible! I would still choose Olli over and over and over again. I love seeing him as a Dad and I love that he still manages to surprise me with random things such as creating restaurants at home with our kids and taking me on thoughtful dates.

Oliver, we’d love to know why you chose NMJ to help create the perfect engagement ring for Charlotte. How was your experience and how did you end up with the design that you did?

Charlotte had her eye on a ring from there for a while! I went in one day and worked with the designer on the sizing and the style of ring and then went from there. They were so helpful and really made the moment more exciting and special. I loved all the extra little touches they included with the ring as well.

Charlotte - My favourite moment was when Olli got down on one knee and said why he wanted to marry me! Having our son there as well to share in the moment and the happiness after was pure magic. We went out for dinner to a cute little Italian restaurant that was in our villa where we were staying and there was a band playing, we had seafood marinara, pizzas and a lamb shoulder and it was all around just the most special day.

Olli - My favourite moment of our wedding was when Charlotte and my kids walked in. I’ll never forget that!

Charlotte - My favourite moment of our wedding was hearing Olli’s vows and seeing his face as I walked down the aisle. Such a beautiful moment, I definitely had to hold back the tears!

What is one of your favourite moments from your special day?
