Who do these hands belong to?

Mel, Bespoke Design Consultant.

What is your role at Natalie Marie Jewellery and how long have you been on the team?

I work within Bespoke design and have had the pleasure of working with the NMJ Team for nearing one year!

Describe a typical day for you?

As Bespoke Designer everyday varies, my day usually entails meeting one-on-one with clients to discuss their design, sketching designs, sourcing gemstones and then seeing the finished pieces crafted at the end of the design process is really the icing on the cake.

What is your favourite gemstone?

Champagne diamonds, particularly in an emerald cut.

What is your favourite part of the bespoke process?

Helping to create such treasured pieces gives me an unmatched sense of fulfilment, I love hearing the stories each piece holds.

Describe yourself in three words?

Caring, chatty and easy-going.

What are you most grateful for?

All the incredible people that I have in my life, each person brings something different to the table.

If you could have dinner with any famous person, who would you choose and what would you talk about?

This is a tough one! I think David Attenborough would have many interesting stories to tell and some wise advise, so I’d pick him.

What’s on top of your wish list right now?

I’m counting down the days until I have my own puppy!

You have to buy your lunch…What is your go-to?

A sweet potato pie from Patersons, as my colleagues would know it’s a bit of an addiction.

What’s your ideal way to spend your weekends?

Nothing beats a camping trip with friends.

If you could change something in the world, what would it be?

Oh where to start!? I would stop the production of unnecessary plastics and prompt the move toward more sustainable packaging.

What motivates you?

Reflecting on how much change I’ve endured over the last few years, within myself and my surroundings, it makes me excited for what’s to come and motivates me to continue to follow my intuition.

What has been your favourite piece to design so far?

There are so many it’s hard to pick just one. There are two pieces that are currently in the works and are designed to work together as a set, the engagement piece is champagne pear diamond with an asymmetric diamond halo and the wedding band is a continuation of the diamond halo that slots in with the engagement ring.

Are you an early riser or someone who hits the snooze button?

Although I do love a sunrise from time to time, majority of the time I can’t resist a sleep in.

What advice would you give your past self?

You are more capable than you know so don’t doubt yourself.
