Natalie's Letter

There’s no better time than the start of a new, evolving year to reflect upon the time that has passed and set intentions for the next few weeks and months.

In a personal letter to our NMJ community, Natalie shares what guides her – as a creative, a mother and a businesswoman – to grow and remain aligned amidst the challenges of day-to-day life. Here, Natalie also offers readers a glimpse into our next, exciting creation, and what it signifies on the journey of her own life.

Dear NMJ family,

I usually write a letter at Christmas time reflecting upon the year that has passed. This year, I’m choosing to write at the dawn of this new, unfolding year; to invite not only consideration of what has passed, but to draw attention to what could be possible.

The world is a complex place. We are challenged, stretched and tested on a near daily basis. But we are also all learning, loving and living; navigating individual journeys in the midst of broader, collective experiences. In order to remain aligned and purposeful – as a creative, mother, and businesswoman – I find myself returning time and time again to my personal and professional core inspiration: humanity.

I am endlessly inspired by human stories of hope and hardship, of love, loss and learning. To me, this is at the heart of what we do, and the connections forged through our work, within some of life’s most meaningful moments, is what defines our vision.

Through our work last year, we encouraged the celebration of ‘soul friends’, creating opportunities through which to honour non-romantic love: the love of friends, family, soul mates. We have solidified countless unions through the exchange of wedding rings, and we have landed in the pockets of nervous, hopeful fiancés on bended knee. We have tenderly honoured the most tragic of losses, sharing tears and heartbreak with brave families, creating tangible expressions of memory.

But an opportunity evolved amidst this work – an area that we wanted to celebrate and shine a light towards. We have been working on a special piece – one that has emerged as an extension of our beloved Sollune necklace. This piece has been designed and created with the purpose of honouring and celebrating self (wherever it finds you). No matter your current place along life’s journey, we invite you to reflect, commemorate and celebrate each formative and defining moment for what it is.

The cresting edge of a new year feels like the best time to set intentions for the days, weeks and months that follow. For me, I am moving into this year with some important lessons learnt (and with better clarity than ever before) on what is important, and what I want to honour and create space for.

I invite you to do the same. To look inward and celebrate how far you have come, how much you have learnt, and to acknowledge how much you deserve to be celebrated for landing exactly where you are.
