We are thrilled to introduce you to our newest collection, Yves.
Drawing from the richness and diversity of expression that was explored through the modern art movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Yves is a celebration of abstraction, an ode to artist expression and a dedication to the muse.
As we explored common shapes, and the rising popularity of abstract forms in both painted and sculptural art during these eras, the more we realised that behind these artists was always a female muse - a wife, a lover, or a model whose likeness they replicate over and over again in their creations. This discovery formed the basis of the collection in which we encapsulate the innate femininity that shines through an era dominated by predominantly masculine protagonists. Each unique story within Yves is named after iconic artists that shaped this period and honours the women who inspired them.
The essence of our design inspiration is championed with the use of rough textures and abstract silhouettes in which are exemplified through the use of angular shapes, languishing formats and smooth, interwoven wires. Stand out stories include The Dali Story. First to be conceptualised in design, The Dali Story is characterised by organic forms woven together with our signature fine wire work. It’s directly inspired by its namesake, a correlation that is evident in the elliptical forms that seem to melt and create a beautifully fluid, organic texture.
Taking cues from the dynamic art form that is abstractionism, is the Agate story. Similar to that of a painting with sweeping brushstrokes and the effects of spilling paint onto a canvas, the Agate story speaks volumes through the incredibly unique quality of each individual piece of stone; the dendritic patterns within the agate stones resemble something you’d see on a gallery wall.
“The collection itself, and all of the stories within it, are named after iconic artists from the 19th and 20th centuries that influenced the world of art, and led new movements. We chose artists that resonated with us, either through their artworks, choice of subject, or their personal lives.”- Founder, Natalie Fitch
We make each piece to order, by hand, in our Sydney studio – a conscious decision that allows us to minimise our footprint on the environment and gives us the opportunity to connect with clients on a deeply personal level. If you’re looking to shop consciously, or would simply like to treat yourself, Yves is the collection for you.
